Spatial Installation
Vollformat group exhibition

Vestigium (Latin for trace, imprint, or remnant) is a site-specific spatial installation that brings together painting, drawing, relief, and sculptural elements into a cohesive visual organism. Rather than presenting individual works alongside one another, the installation treats the entire space as an open system in which all elements are interconnected and mutually influence one another.

The starting point was the question of how to develop a visual language that feels both familiar and difficult to define. The signs, shapes, and figures evoke archaic traces, cave paintings, or fragments of past cultures without referring to any specific historical source. They deliberately remain open to interpretation and resist any single, definitive reading.

Materials such as acrylic paint, plaster, clay plaster, as well as engravings and drawn interventions, create different surfaces and senses of time. Some areas resemble excavated relics, while others appear contemporary or still in the process of becoming. This creates a tension between material and technique, past and present, and between painting and spatial experience.

The installation does not tell a linear story. Instead, it invites visitors to read the space as an archaeological field in which fragments, symbols, and traces form an open network of relationships. Meaning does not emerge from a fixed narrative, but through the relationships between individual elements and the associations they evoke in the viewer.
